What is 14USC89 you may ask?
Well, that answer is quite simple. I have always felt that our community needed to have effective communication about BTM/BO events, encounters, and actions. While much of that is not internet releasable to the web, it’s value remains critical to the knowledge of all LEO’s. Insight to events that have happened within the LE community are one of the most vital tools available outside of actual encounters. 14USC89 is a collection of all of those.
What kind of stuff will I find here?
14USC89’s mission is to collect various bits of information from the web, LE community, federal and state agencies, maritime communities, etc, and display them in one centralized location for our critical missions. If you are an HL, you can use this information to train your teams. If your a new BTM, these articles and commentaries will provide you insight to the LE field. Right now the articles are skim. That’s only because this site is brand new and needs time to grow. That’s where you come in.
What can I do to contribute?
Simple. What would you want to pass to your Boarding Team to increase their training? What issues of law enforcement are important to you? Think of all the things you’ve wanted to add or change to our training. Was it a book you read? Was it a physical technique you thought was critical? Do you hate it when people fold and bend their body armor? If so, then that’s where you come in. Send me any article you have found, and I will post it on your behalf (ensuring you get credit for your contribution). Do you have a commentary you want to share? If so, then let me know. I can either post it or you can join on as a contributor…it’s your call. This website is not my website, it’s our website. I want to allow anyone with an idea a chance to contribute. What are the limitations?
This site cannot contain and FOUO, classified, secret, or top secret information. Anything released from the CG has to be marked with “Internet Release Authorized”. With that restriction in place, there are still countless opportunities to provide information to the fleet. This site is still developing, so bear with it as we grow and get our feet planted. Naturally anytime any member of our community is involved in something from level 3 and up, I would love to hear about it…that would provide the greatest training tool available. However, that stuff would make legal’s head spin so fast that I would be on a buoy scraping barnacles for the rest of my enlistment. Until that day comes, we have this as an option. Through knowledge comes understanding. Share your stuff with all of us and help make the community stronger. The LE side of the USCG needs a strong community of ideas. Help us out.
