Our readers asked for it and we’ve delivered. 14USC89.COM has launched an on site database to provide officers with federal and state court opinions and documents related to maritime law enforcement. The included cases cover a wide range of topics and include major at sea drug interdictions, environmental crimes, use of force incidents, violent crime and many more. With this we hope to afford officers an opportunity to research the successes and failures of other units and to apply those lessons learned to their own operations. We do have to caution however that there can be disagreements between federal districts and a case that is successfully prosecuted in one may be dismissed in another. That said, many recurring themes can be found across all districts, most notable, the issue of fourth amendment protections on vessels. |
