15 Year Old Injured in Boating Accident, Woman Arrested for BUI
Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, 43-year-old Discovery Bay, California resident Robin Lambert took her daughter and two female friends to go inner tubing on the Delta, Contra Costa Sheriff Marine Patrol Deputy Lt. Will Duke said. On Old River, southeast of Discovery Bay, Lambert miscalculated a turn and all three girls were thrown from the tube onto a nearby rock levee. Lambert’s daughter and one of her friends were not injured, but the other friend was seriously hurt and had to be flown to a hospital, Duke said. The 15-year-old’s current condition is unknown.
Marine patrol officers responding to the scene detected an odor of alcohol while investigating Lambert and she subsequently failed sobriety tests. She was arrested on suspicion of boating under the influence resulting in bodily injury, a felony, Duke said.
This is the 10th boating under the influence arrest made for the 2010 season, which typically runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. One man drowned earlier this year near Bethel Island after falling out of his boat while heavily intoxicated. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can call 925-427-8507.
