The handgun features the SIG DAK (Double Action Kellerman) trigger system, a double action only mechanism designed to provide a safe and reliable 6.5 lb trigger pull, which is much lighter than conventional double action only triggers. After firing the initial round, the shooter can control the trigger reset either to an intermediate point with a shorter pull distance and two pound heavier weight, or fully reset to the original longer and lighter weight position.
The “R” in P229R indicates the weapon is equipped with a rail for mounting accessories on the lower receiver (ie. flashlight, laser).

Sig P229R uses Federal .40 cal 180-grain Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP) ammunition. Average muzzle velocity recorded as 953 feet per sec (fps)
