The USCG ME Rating. What?

When I saw this I had to laugh, so I thought I would share it with you all. If you head over to our recruiting website, gocoastguard.com, and check out the enlisted ratings write up for Maritime Enforcement Specialist, your greated with the picture below. A non-rate checking ID cards at a front gate. After all these years of waiting for a LE rating, the best they can do is to show a guy checking ID cards…with a non-gun on his belt? I can go to the USCG media database and find hundreds of sweet MSST, TACLET, MSRT, and drug bust pics, but they choose a dude checking ID cards? In the picture on the bottom right…what’s that supposed to represent? Is the guy being sneaky? Is he mentally defeated from the vehicle check? Is this supposed to be from the ME “A” school? Who knows. Oh well, lets just chalk it up as growing pains! What do you all think? Opinions? Drop a comment and let your opinion be heard.

  1. [...] is a step up from their earlier works and the pictures on the recruiting site’s ME rating page. [...]

Before you jump the gun you should ask around or the CG should check to make sure what it is they’re posting. This is a picture of “A” school students going through PS “A” school. This is part of the class. Making sure that the people that come on board the “facility” are cleared. I know, I used to role play during those days.

I know what they are showing, but that’s not the point of the post. It’s for a laugh. The point is that the USCG pushed for this rate for so long and now this is the best pictures they can come up with? There a so many better ones they could have used.

  4. Numbers says:

Oh, come on now. You’re seeing the “security” side of the rating. It’s not all going to be LE. And remember, MEs will be the teachers, not necessarily the do’ers.

  5. Lawler says:

I know…and it’s soooo cool. It definitly makes for “cool” advertising material. I hope they make a poster.

  6. Randy McNary says:

@ Lawler…I have to agree with you. One would think after all this time trying to develop a LE rate that the CG could do a better job of selling it.

  7. Ethan Fox says:

    Lame
