ME3,
While I can not defend the loss of a weapon I describe a situation where one may remove the holster while in the restroom. The paddle holster issued by CBP for wear while in plain clothes sits on a regular belt. When the belt is unbuckled the weight of the pistol pulls on the belt and causes the pistol while holstered to fall to the floor if one is sitting on the toilet. Many officers remove the weapon from their belt to avoid being seen by others who may see the weapon if they happen to glance under the stall doors. Many of the officers within DHS are plain clothed individuals who work in airports and do not have access to private bathrooms and can not risk being seem with a gun in the sterile area of an airport. Like I said, I can't defend the loss of a firearm, but I can how it happens.

HOW DO YOU LEAVE YOU PDW JUST SITTING IN THE BATHROOM. FIRST OF ALL WHY ARE THEY EVEN TAKING THEIR PDW OUT TO USE THE BATHROOM. I AM A BTM AND I ALSO CARRY OFF DUTY, AND HAVE NEVER NEEDED TO UNHOLSTER MY WEAPONS TO TAKE A LEAK OR OTHER WISE. THIS IS JUST SAD ALL THAT TIME AND MONEY SPENT ON TRAINING JUST TO LOOSE THE ONE THING THAT CAN MAKE A DIFFRENCE IF YOU LIVE OR DIE. LOOSING A GUN IS LIKE LOOSEING A CHILD, YOU SHOULDENT HAVE ONE IF YOU CANT BE RESPONSIBLE FOT IT.
