This is The Best Defensive Tactics Tool

About 4 years ago I got to go through the Tony Blauer S.P.E.A.R. course. For me personally, I think it’s one of the simplest and most effective officer safety tools available. I think that it would be proactive to utilize many of the tools of this system into our current techniques. Here is a short video that illustrates the critical nature of why the technique is so valuable.

The keys to this course are that the techniques involved can be easily incorporated into what we are already taught, but provide so much more insight into the physicality of any hand to hand altercation. Naturally, it’s not a end all solution to a encounter, but it is nearly flawless in it’s mission: to give you time to respond to an ambush. See if your unit will pay for you to go. They offer an Instructor certification course, then you can come back to your unit and train everyone else!
