Don’t Be Fooled By Zip Tie Restraints

A lot of us in the LE community have become fans of zip ties for restraining subjects. While the 2 collar style are the best, often we are given the single strap versions (migrants, large groups, etc). These are not fool proof and the video from It’s Tactical helps illustrate the importance to always be watchful of restrained subjects. Check out the video below and check out their website for 6 other ways subjects have been know to defeat these restraints.

That’s why you zip tie them by another method; have them cross their wrists…behind their back, not in front; then wrap the zip tie around the wrists, preferably between the officer and the suspect and not around the wrists from the side.
