14USC89 Is Taking A Break
I know that this site has just started, but I really don’t know if I can accomplish what I want due to sensitive information restrictions…..which seems to include everything CGLE related. I’m going to take a break while handling my deployment, qualifications, and school work. Those two are a lot more important to me than this site. The future of this site may be uncertain, but I would like to set up a version of this via CG Portal…that way I can have the information that I really want to pass without violating FOUO regulations.
Same offer as earlier stands. Contributors are welcome to join this site as authors. If you are interested in doing so, just email me. Check back later for new information. Thanks.

Hey Lawler. Don’t get discouraged. A simple way to not violate OPSEC is to post only things available via open source networks or any message that says ‘internet release authorized’. You would be REALLY surprised at the amount of information that is available on the open web.
Where can I email you at? I looked all over the site and couldn’t find a “Contact me” section…
My question was whether you had looked into the applicability of the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) to Coast Guard members? I know of one court case where the judge upheld LEOSA applying to a boarding team member. I’ve just never heard any clear direction on it, and it would be hugely helpful for off duty carrying…
Actually, the email address is all over the site. On the side bars, the “about this site” page, the reading list page, and of course at the end of each post where it says contact the author.
Anyway, about the LEOSA…I’m not even going to attempt to add clarification on that issue. There is no “official” USCG position on the matter. It’s pretty cut and dry in regards to the text in the authorization. I would be most concerned about your commands position on the matter and your states carry laws in general. Your best bet is to join in on the 128 page discussion over on the military.com USCG discussion boards. Rumor has it the new MLEM will address it.
